Lisa Harris has built an
impressive career as a ballet accompanist. Playing for
some of the top ballet companies in the United States
and Europe, Lisa has landed gigs through luck,
perserverence and being in the right place at the
right time.
Ms. Harris was born on
May 14, 1958 and has been facinated with music since
childhood. She has been providing energetic, inspiring
music for ballet for over 20 years. In 1982, after graduating
from The Ohio State University, Lisa got her first
international contact in Europe at "The Princess Grace
Academie of Dance” in Monte Carlo. Later on she was
asked to join "Les Ballets de Monte Carlo", Princess
Caroline's newly formed company.
Through a collaboration with Kevin Haigen (Hamburg Ballet) she was contracted in London, and Hamburg. In London she had the thrill of being asked to play for Nureyev, for a private class, and Makarova who was guesting with The London Festival Ballet. In 1987 Lisa moved to New York City where she climbed the ballet scene ladder finally getting in to SAB, Juilliard, Alvin Ailey and The Feld Ballet. In 1990, she moved to Seattle, to catch the wave of the highly successful Pacific Northwest Ballet Company. Being surrounded by the beauty of nature, Lisa started recording her music for ballet classes, with Dave Dysart at Triad Studios. Five years later, she yearned for the European scene again, and was lucky to be given a contract by Spain’s foremost choreographer Nacho Duato. Lisa has just finished her 25th recording for ballet which is selling, along with her previous releases, at stores all over the world: Dance Books, Sylvia, and Milba in Japan, Menkes and Maty in Spain, as well as your finer dance shops across the USA. Lisa has currently been working for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and Compania de Nacional de Danza when they were in Seattle. She also gives accompanist workshops to those interested in learning more about ballet accompanying. Physical
